A Sisterhood of Business and Professional Women

About LKM

Message from the Grand Basileus

Greetings!

Welcome to the Lambda Kappa Mu Sorority, Inc. website! We hope that you will take some time to explore our site and learn about our history, our mission and our goals.

Our New National Theme is "Legacy Building through Unity, Strength and Sisterhood" and our focus areas are: Healthier Living, Focus on Youth, Societal Issues

Our organization is over 75 years old but our thinking is progressive. We represent many professions and are active in our communities, our schools and our houses of worship. We are mindful of the goals of our founders as we seek to use our collective strength to respond to the societal issues facing us today. Despite many advances, we see a country still struggling with race, economics, and class issues. A quality education, the key to our advancement, still remains an elusive goal for many citizens. Full employment, with a livable wage, has improved but still leaves many citizens on the unemployment line. The country still debates the merits of the Affordable Care Act even as more Americans have access to health care than before.

Our chapters seek to address the above concerns and many others. Our affiliations with the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW) and the Black Women's Agenda, Inc. (BWA) enable us to lend our voice on national issues. We have been an active participant in the BWA/AARP initiative titled "Because We Care", focusing on the issues facing caregivers. At our July, 2015 Conclave, LKM members voted on a resolution calling our chapters to action on racism and profiling of citizens. The resolution was forwarded to President Barack Obama and Attorney General Loretta Lynch. (Link)

As you visit our website, our chapter websites and Facebook pages, you will see the ways in which we serve the community. You will get a better idea of who we are and maybe you'll decide to join us. We are always interested in new members and in partnerships with like-minded organizations. Welcome!
